On Wednesday, with Sacred Heart students, we visited Tyrendarra Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) to learn all about Gunditjmara culture and country. We learnt about the unique circular stone dwellings, and saw remnants of Australia's earliest, largest, sustainable stone aquaculture systems, including the fish and eel traps.

Here’s what LGA students thought about the day.
On the excursion to the Budj Bim area, we saw eel traps. They didn't want to trap the little eels, so there were little holes in the trap.  Mitchell and Thomas

We had a great time yesterday, but we missed Charlotte. Dylan

The red group saw the stone houses, they were fantastic. Eli and Pheobe

The blue group went to the stones huts and it smelled like a dead animal in the area. Maybe it was a dead kangaroo!  Jimmy and Xander

We saw the Rainbow Serpent eggs and they were made by the Budj Bim volcano erupting. Ollie

The yellow group went to see the eel (kooyang) traps but we couldn't see them because they were under the fast, flowing water. Connor and Marianna
