WE ARE SUPPORTING THE VINNIES WINTER APPEAL

As part of the Western Trinity, we collaborate not just for our learning activities but on Catholic Social Teaching initiatives, and look at how our actions can benefit the wider community.
With our Student Leadership team, driving the project, we are going to be involved in supporting Sacred Heart Casterton Mini Vinnies in their  St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal.
Over the next few weeks, our Student Leadership team will be letting you know how you can be involved either by donating winter goods or by knitting beanies and scarves that can be sold and money donated to the Winter Appeal.
A box and money tin will be set up next week in the foyer of the school, so you can bring in your donations after lockdown ends.

Thanks Families for a Great Working Bee!

Thanks so much to all the families who came to the Watering System Working Bee last Sunday.  T
You did an amazing job to dig the trenches in a record time.  Proves that many hands make light work.

We will now be able to have the watering system installed by the end of term and our Water Wise Veggies Beds project will be complete.
Thanks also to Wannon Water Ripple Effects Grant for the support of this project.

Biodiversity Audit - Indigenous Plants

14/5/2021

Our Grade 2 and 3 students have been looking at the Indigenous food and fibre plants we have in our school, as part of  the  Indigenous History Inquiry unit and a Biodiversity Audit in our Sustainability classes.
After the audit they planted seeds (with the Juniors) of our local Indigenous food and fibre plants so we can add more Indigenous plants to our Indigenous Garden.
We planted Billy Buttons, Dianella, Everlasting Daisies, Warrigal Greens and Sturt Desert Peas. The Dianella seess were taken straight from the dry seed pods on our Dianella plants.  The students were very excited that the seeds they planted germinated in less than a week.  Well done, everyone!
