Our senior class did a great job moving sand and leveling the area for the other two wicking beds. Unfortunately due to the wind we weren’t able to set them up before the holidays.
Our junior students planted coriander, spring onions and spinach, as well as Snow Pea seeds in the two new Indonesian Kitchen Garden Beds.

The winners of the Term 3 Nude Food Challenge are Maddison and Marianna.
So many students brought Nude Food every day that it was a very close challenge. Second and third prizes went to Charlotte, Mitchell, Liam P and Lacey. Well done everyone and their families for taking up the challenge. We are an awesome waste free school! To keep the momentum going we have signed up to Nude Food October. So first week back don’t forget to bring your food nude. There are great prizes to be won through Nude Food Day. Maybe our school can become a Nude Food School in 2020. In Technology, our junior students have been considering sustainability when creating design solutions.
We have learnt that it is common during some celebrations to end up with glow sticks that have stopped glowing and these one-time use items end up in landfill. We discovered that chemicals contained within glow sticks they are unfortunately not recyclable, so the students have designed a solution for this and upcycled them instead to make bracelets. We used hot glue guns to fix used glow sticks together, before wrapping them in colourful wool and adding beads for decoration. The bracelets created could be used as gifts or to wear. A fantastic solution and fun to make as well! Our junior students did an amazing job making the garden beds for our new Indonesian Kitchen Garden. These garden beds were purchased using the Language Grant money that Bu McElgunn received They worked as a team to join the sides with screws. They measured the length, width and height of the beds so we could work out the volume and order the compost. Well done!
Great news,! We can now recycle pens, markers, textas and highlighters, white-out and pen lids for FREE!
TERRACYCLE has a new recycle program that we have joined. For every 1 kg of markers we will receive $1 for our school. So clean out your cupboards and drawers over the holidays and bring in any pens, markers, textas and highlighters, white-out and pen lids. Make sure you tell your family and friends about it. Put your items in the box in the office. Here’s what can be recycled. |
