They planted them in our Wicking Box which will ensure the seeds will stay moist while the seeds are germinating. The Wicking Box is made from recycled polystyrene box, seedling pots, shade cloth and a drink bottle. Students will make sure there is always enough water in the bottom of the box, the pots and shade cloth are a barrier between the water and the soil. The soil soaks up the water, so it's moist all the time. It’s a great way to germinate seeds that take a long time to germinate, such as leeks or coriander. It’s also an easy way for LGB to make sure the seeds they’ve planted don’t dry out. Austin is looking after the Wicking Box this week to make sure the water is topped up regularly.
