THE 6Rs of Sustainability - REFUSE

REFUSE waste is the first R.

Here are some practical tips for families to help them REFUSE buying waste that will only end up in landfill.

  1. Take metal straws or keep cups to cafes.
  2. Refuse to buy small packs inside a bigger pack - Buy in bulk to reduce plastic and save money!
  3. Take your own shopping bags and refuse to buy plastic shopping bags that can’t be recycled anyway and will end up in our waterways.
  4. Refuse to buy any fruit and vegetables in plastic containers or bags.  Take your own produce bags.
  5. Buy products in cans/tins (dog food, soft drink or food)  where possible, as cans can be recycled back into new cans.
  6. Use wax wraps or reusable wraps instead of plastic wrap.

I love how much we've changed with our habits! These days I carry shopping bags in the car so I don't need to buy any (in fact I REFUSE to buy shopping bags!).

I have my own keep cup which is not only good for the environment but also cuts the cost of coffee!

So many great incentives :)
