We're Collecting Lids For Kids, Bread Tags and Writing Implements

Again this year, we will be collecting Lids for Kids, Bread Tags and Writing implements such as pens, markers, and textas, so they don’t end up in Landfill.
LIDS for KIDS
Hannah has agreed to co-ordinate our collections again this year.  She will be collecting milk and soft drink lids from the Transfer Station that have been collected by Barry and the community.  Maddison is organising the collection of milk bottle tops from the Catching Pen.Last year, we sent the lids to Geelong where they will be melted down and made into prosthetic limbs for kids using a 3D printer.

Last week, Olivia brought in clean lids she collected over the holidays to start our new collection.  Well done Olivia.  Lids must be clean and dry please, without the white plastic insert.
See below the poster of the
type of lids we collect and sort.

BREAD TAGS
If you buy the bread that still has plastic bread tags, don’t worry they can be recycled! We collect plastic bread tags and send them to Transmutation in Robe to be made into bowls and other fancy homewares.  Bring them in so we can sort them and send them off when we have enough.

PENS, TEXTAS AND MARKERS

Last year we saved 2 boxes of pens and textas from Landfill and recycled them through TerraCycle. So whenever you have a clean out or your writing implements run out of ink, don’t throw them in the Landfill bin, bring them in to school, to the box in the Office. We get points and prizes from Terracycle for every box of pens we send back.
Thanks everyone for doing your bit to save plastic from Landfill!
